Unlike the previous two Minions films, The Rise of Gru features Gru in the form of a 12-year-old child. Despite his young age, however, Gru has already shown his interest in the world of crime. At that time, he idolized the Wild Knuckles, the front man and founder of Vicious 6, the world's most famous criminal gang. When Vicious 6 opened a vacancy, Gru didn't waste it. He also signed up. Unfortunately, his application was rejected because he was considered not bad enough. After all, he was only 12 years old. What do these people think when they invite them for a “job” interview?

Although rejected, Gru still wants to prove that he is evil and deserves to be a member of the group. He then stole the zodiac necklace. Vicious 6's sacred and sacred necklace was very precious to them. As a result, they also hunted Gru. The hunting action leads Gru to meet Wild Knuckles, who after being betrayed by Vicious 6, lives in San Francisco. Gru tries to impress Wild Knuckles.

This 88 minute long film is quite entertaining. The action of Gru and Vicious 6 is ridiculous enough and can make your stomach churn. Meanwhile, the Minions were also present by providing many ridiculous and absurd scenes. The three main Minions, Bob, Stuart, and Kevin, always try to accompany Gru. Bob will feel more relatable to the Indonesian audience because he says a few words in Indonesian. Kids will definitely love this film.

The Rise of Gru has a light theme—although a bit quirky—and easy to follow. The action and animation are also fun. Children will enjoy the silliness of all the characters in this film. Gru who was only 12 years old was even more ridiculous than he was when he grew up. This is what may relate to children more because Gru is still small in this film. Gru solves all his problems in a childish manner, appropriate for his age.

What positive things did the review say about the movie? Although the villains, both Gru, Minion, and Wild Knicker, have kindness in their hearts. They are willing to help each other even if it can endanger themselves. Although the world can be a cruel and selfish place, it turns out that if everyone manages to be the best person they are, then the world can become more beautiful and peaceful. Scenes I liked best in the movie: The evil adventures of Gru and the Minions began when the members of the Vicious Six betrayed each other. In fact, Vicious Six managed to become the best super villain group in the world (according to Belle Bottom's claims) because of an agreement with its members who were good friends before. In this way, it is clear that loyalty is one of the qualities of a person's personality. After all, in the end it was the loyalty between the Minions, Wild Knicker, and Gru that allowed them to defeat the Vicious Six.	Scenes that I did not like: At the beginning of the film, Gru describes his dreams and aspirations in class. There, his friends and teachers belittled him and mocked him. Actually, this action could be seen as a form of bullying.	Outstanding individual performance: The Rise of Gru will feature the voices of Steve Carell as Gru, Pierre Coffin as Kevin, Stuart, Bob, Otto, and other Minions. Then Taraji P Henson as Belle Bottom, to Michelle Yeoh as Master Chow. This is an attraction to lure the audience to watch the Minion movie.
